Purpose
To assist people in the Uniting Church in Australia to participate in God's mission in the world through sharing in the life and mission of our Partner Churches.
Mission
To work in partnership with Partner Churches, ecumenical bodies, non-government organisations (NGOs) with a similar purpose, and with councils, groups and individuals within the UCA to help express the mission of God in the world.
Values
The following are key values that guide our work:
- to be bearers of hope
- to be moved by compassion for others
- to express a passion for justice
- to show a commitment to peace-building
- to live in a way that hears, stands with, and supports the poorest of the poor.
Philosophy
A commitment to mission that touches all aspects of life (i.e. is wholistic).
How We Work
The areas of work that we engage in vary from;
- Evangelism
- Bible translation
- Christian education
- Prison ministry
- Sunday school and youth ministry
- Peace-building
- International human rights
- Emergency relief
- Health education and community development
A crucial part of our work in the area of aid and development is expressed through our special division - Uniting Church Overseas Aid (UCOA).
Partnership in Mission is at the heart of our International Mission work. We participate in God's mission through working closely in a mutually sensitive way with our Partner Churches . This involves listening deeply, sharing concerns, praying together for God's guidance, and agreeing on what to do and how to do it.
